I thought I'd put together this little guide on how I published my first eBook on Apple iBookstore and Amazon Kindle. Hopefully, this will inspire you to do the same.

  1. I have two questions. One: Is there a specific age limit? because I’m 14
and I want to publish a novel. Two: Do you have to type in a table of
contents or do one of the softwares do it for you?

  2. You could use part of this to publish your book in ePub format. As for
publishing it for real, you’d need to get copyright clearance if you
infringe the copyright of PF wholesale. But if it is a critical essay, you
can quote lyrics etc within reason. Do some research for "fair use" and
copyright in your territory. You might be able to self-publish if you stay
    within the rules.

  3. Firstly, I recorded this video when my children were in bed and I didn’t
want to wake them. Secondly, why don’t YOU just turn the volume up. Problem
    solved! 😉

  4. Excellent information. My wife and I have published four books the
traditional way and have sold them throughout the world. However, it was
very expensive and time consuming, requiring warehouses, inventory, etc. We
have two others ready to go now. We will now do it this way. Your
    information was really helpful.

  5. @johnmonk66 Since the making of this video, a further short-cut has been
discovered. If you use the Apple Mac OS X and have a copy of the Pages
application, it can export straight to the ePub format.

  6. @Brysea Because I have two small children, make my videos when they are in
bed and do not want to wake them. Is that OK with you?

  7. @josephwinter All these services (Lulu, iBookstore and Amazon) take a cut
of your sales otherwise they’d be no point in them hosting your material.
You can get your ISBN from Lulu.com without applying to Amazon – that’s why
I used that site. As for increasing visibility on Amazon, I cannot answer
    that, I am afraid.
